Now draw load line: Load line comes from KVL equation
ID = (V1-VD) / R1 ...equation 1
put ID=0 in equation 1
equation 1 becomes VD=V1=10 (eqA)
Now put VD=0 in equation 1
equation 1 becomes ID= V1/1000
ID = 10mA ( eqB)
Mark ID=10mA and VD=10V on the characteristic curve and join these two points.

You can trace that function using Matlab or simply simulate the circuit on Proteus or LTSpice.
